   enlargement
   at
   apex.

   skin
   is
   smooth
   but
   ribbed
   widely
   and
   shallowly
   and
   the
   skin
   is
   alternately
   striped
   in
   definite
   lines,
   with
   very
   dark
   green
   or
   dull
   greenish
   black
   and
   pale
   greenish
   yellow.
   these
   stripes
   appear
   as
   a
   fine
   lacelike
   pattern. 
   This
   squash
   is
   usually
   at
   its
   peak
   when
   it
   is
   picked
   6
   to
   8
   inches
   long
   and
   1
   1/2
   to
   2
   inches
   in
   diameter. 
   These
   squash
   when
   left
   to
   grow
   can
   reach
   14
   to
   18
   inches
   long
   and
   3
   1/2
   to
   4
   1/2
   inches 
   in
