PLAIN OR TABLE SALT:  A mined salt, this is regular table salt. It has a salty taste which is picked up on the front of the tongue. It is recommended to use plain salt in consommés and pickling where clouding of the food product is not desirable. It dissolves very quickly. Table salt however does not give the strong flavor foundation that a sea salt offers.
