Vermillion Snapper (Sebastes miniatus) Red Snapper, Red Rock Cod

Vermillion are very popular fish being highly sought after in both the recreational and commercial fishery where they are known simply as "reds".  They are prized for their rich, delicate white meat on the inside that makes up for their appearance.

They are generally caught over rocky bottoms at depths of 100 to 500 feet, although they have been taken from depths as great as 900 feet
