Rockfish (Sebastes nebulosus)China rockfish occur from Kachemak Bay, northern Gulf of Alaska to Redondo Beach and San Miguel Island in southern California, but they are most abundant from southeastern Alaska to Sonoma County, California. They are found at depths of up to 420 ft, but are most common between 30 and 300 ft. This
rockfish spends most of its time in or near crevices or caves, where its
large pectoral fins enable it to support itself on the cave floor and
maneuver in crevices. Its food consists of brittle stars, crabs, and
shrimps. China Rockfishes make up a minor portion of sport and commercial
hook-and-line catches Not threatened. This is one of the tastiest rockfish but it is rarely caught.
