Kennebec 
First grown in 1940 in Maryland it is a cross between two unnamed seedlings.  The potato is elliptical to oblong, medium thick, with a smooth skin, creamy buff skin.  The eyes are shallow and the same color as the skin and the flesh of the potato is white.  Quality is good to excellent, and the variety is considered good for potato chips.  The Kennebec is widely grown for processing.
