    The
    translation
    is
    unclear
    but
    it
    is
    thought
    to
    mean
    nobility
    or
    "of
    small
    quantity".
    This
    variety
    was
    introduced
    into
    the
    U.S.
    in
    1902
    from
    Iraq
    by
    Fairchild.
    This
    variety
    is
    the
    most
    common
    in
    northern
    Iraq.
    The
    fruit
    is
    yellow
    in
    the
    khalal
    stage
    and
    has
    a
    distinctive
    obovate
    shape.
    The
    size
    is
    34
    x
    40
    mm
    long
    and
    23
    x
    25
    mm
    wide.
    The
    skin
    is
    thick
    and
    tough
    and
    tends
    to
    adhere
    to
    the
    flesh,
    and
    loosens
    only
    slightly
    during
    curing.
    The
    flavor
    is
    not
    outstanding
    with
    the
    flesh
    being
    fibrous
    to
    hard.
