Bartlett  The world's leading commercial pear variety. This pear rates high as a quality dessert type. Medium to large size, bell like shape, skin fairly thin, somewhat tender, clear yellow color when ripe, occasionally blushed, uneven surface, some fairly inconspicuous dots, and is considered fairly attractive.  The flesh is white, fine, free from grit, melting, juicy, with a sweet flavor with a touch of muskiness. Fairly early season and on the market from July until mid October but available in small quantities later on.
