History

Arugula  Eruca vesicara  Rocket Plant, Rokko

A plant from the Mediterranean is eaten in salads and used as an herb.  Very popular in Italy, it grows wild in cooler climates.

It has a pungent, peppery flavor with a hit of coriander. Some chefs like the younger, smaller leaves because of their mild taste. Others prefer more mature leaves which are slightly stronger

Avoid wilted and look for leaves that are firm with a sheen. Available throughout the summer
