Sterlet (Acipenser ruthenus)

Measuring up to 5 feet and weighing up to 330 pounds this is one of the smaller species and rarest of Sturgeon, famous for producing the rare Golden Caviar. The Sterlet inhabits both the Black and Caspian seas, and ascends rivers to a greater distance from the sea than any of the other sturgeons. The sterlet is distinguished from the other European species by its ion and narrow snout and fringed barbels.  It rarely exceeds a length of 3 ft (1 m).
