Moorpark
A
distinction should be made between the old English variety known as
Moorpark and the Wenatchee Moorpark developed in Washington and now making
up much of the Washington tonnage. The Moorpark as grown in California has
fine quality with a rich plum-like taste. However, it ripens unevenly. The
fruit matures and is marketed in California later than Royal and Tilton.
The Wenatchee Moorpark is similar. Origin is not definitely known but is
considered to be about 1880 in Washington or California. It has orange
flesh and skin, unequal halves, large size, uneven ripening, fair texture
and quality, may be used for fresh market or processing.
