Good Quality  are hard and firm, compact, fresh, of bright appearance, and of good green color

Well Colored   has a light green or darker shade of green characteristics of well grown brussel sprouts

Firm  of reasonable solidity and is fairly compact but may yield slightly to moderate pressure

Grade

U.S. No.1  well colored firm not withered or burst, which are free from soft decay and seed stems, free from damage caused by discoloration, dirt, disease, insects, or from mechanical means.  Unless otherwise specified each sprout should have a diameter of not less than 1 inch and a length shall not be more than 2 3/4 inches.

Avoid puffy sprouts, wilted or those with yellow leaves which are often signs of age and yields will be low. A smudgy or dirty appearance may be sighs of plant lice.
