Firm apples of good, glossy color with no bruises or brown spots. Store apples in a cool place until ripe, away from direct sunlight. Apples tend to become mealy if refrigerated before ripe. Least available June through August.

Market Forms   Fresh; sliced in cans, jars and frozen; dried in packages and loose; apple sauce in cans and jars; apple juice in cans and jars; apple cider fresh in bottles and jugs and frozen.
