Cornmeal Griddlecakes
1 cup cornmeal 
1 teaspoon salt 
2 tablespoon shortening, melted 
1 cup sifted flour 
1 egg, well beaten
4 teaspoons baking powder 
2 cups milk 

Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together. Add the cornmeal and mix well. Combine the beaten egg and milk and add to the dry ingredients. Stir in the shortening. Bake the same way as other griddlecakes.
