1 cup quick-cooking rolled oats 
1 1/4 cups scalding milk 
1 teaspoon salt 
2 cups flour 1 egg
1 cup chopped dates 
4 teaspoons baking powder 
3/4 cup light corn syrup 

Add ro11ed oats and dates to the milk; let stand for 10 minutes. Add the egg beaten lightly and corn syrup. Mix and sift the dry ingredients. Add the milk mixture, stirring only enough to blend well. Bake in a greased loaf pan in a moderate oven (350 F .) for 1 hour.
