CORN BREAD (JOHNNYCAKE)

1         cup  cornmeal
1          cup  milk
1/4        cup  flour
2             eggs
4 tablespoons  shortening, melted
1 1/2      teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Mix and sift the dry ingredients. Combine the eggs and milk and stir into the dry ingredients. Stir in melted fat and pour into a greased baking pan. Bake in a hot oven (425° F.) for about 25 minutes. Pan 9 by 9 inches yields 12 portions.
